Some designs are instantly recognizable. Damier Rouge is one of them, with its cream-colored earthenware, the deep red of the checkerboard, a few touches of blue, stylized flowers, and a succession of small friezes that seem borrowed from the dressers of old country houses. This beautiful coffee service belongs to one of the iconic collections of Comptoir de Famille, a French brand born in the early 1990s with a singular idea: to rediscover, through everyday objects, the atmosphere and emotions of homes of yesteryear. Research shows documented pieces from as early as 2001. More than twenty years after its first documented appearances, Damier Rouge is still present in the brand's universe. Remarkable longevity for a tableware set. Our set brings together its large covered coffeepot, the centerpiece of the service, accompanied by eight cups and their eight matching saucers, totaling 17 pieces. The coffeepot is particularly well-executed: its generously rounded silhouette is extended by a long spout and an angular handle, while its lid is punctuated by a small red knob that echoes the decor. The earthenware pieces have retained their beautiful sheen and the patterns all their freshness. The Comptoir de Famille signature present under the pieces naturally confirms their origin. One only needs to imagine it on a large wooden table, a linen tablecloth, some slices of bread, hot croissants, and the coffeepot at the center.
