Beautiful vintage coffee table, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé furniture factory in the 1960s (marked). It's listed in the original brochure as model "no. 42." A rare piece, especially due to the addition of Jaap Ravelli ceramic tiles.
Anyway, we collected this coffee table from the estate of the original owners in Utrecht, who told us that her grandmother originally had a matching dresser with it. It was sold due to a lack of space, as a baby was on the way.
This table has been carefully restored in our workshop, preserving its characteristic patina. The solid teak frame once again displays the deep, warm color so typical of the 1960s. The teak-veneered top has also been freed of rings and refinished, almost like new. The top is slightly lighter in color than the frame, creating a beautiful contrast.
The table is very sturdy, and the top features four inlaid tiles depicting a sailing ship by Dutch ceramicist Jaap Ravelli. It's always wonderful to see natural materials combined in a design; you can truly feel and see the quality.
The design is distinctive and typical of Teeffelen. The frame's legs are unique and organically shaped, giving the table a very elegant appearance. Clearly designed with a Danish aesthetic, but we happily claim it as Dutch Design! A mid-century gem, and one that's even hallmarked.
