Product description
Beautiful vintage coffee table, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé furniture factory in the 1960s. This model is listed as no. 15 in the original brochure and, in terms of size, is the larger brother of model no. 16. Just that little bit of extra length makes it even more generous, but hey, we all know that size isn't everything, right?
Anyway. We collected this coffee table from its original owners in Hippolytushoef. After decades of faithful service, it was being sold due to the house being cleared out. It's always wonderful to be able to give such a piece of history a second life.
The table has been carefully restored in our workshop. The teak frame and top have fully returned to their deep, inviting color. The grain of the wood is beautifully highlighted, and the whole piece has been given a soft, satin finish. The handy rattan magazine rack has also been rewoven, making it sturdy and ready for immediate use. There are still some slight traces of its rich history here and there, but that adds to its character.
What makes this table truly special is the inlaid ceramic tile top by renowned Dutch ceramicist Jaap Ravelli. The tile forms the centerpiece of the top, giving the table a beautiful artistic accent that perfectly complements the warm character of the teak. A beautiful interplay of design and materials from the same period.
The design is unmistakably Teeffelen. Place it among ten other tables and you'll immediately spot this one. The frame is organically shaped, elegant, and subtly chic. A clear nod to the Danish aesthetic, but we affectionately call it Dutch Design. A design that's truly remarkable, to say the least.
