A little history:
Pierre Guariche (1926-1995) belonged to the avant-garde of mid-century French designers. After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1949, he worked as a trainee in Marcel Gascoin's studio. This encounter was to prove decisive for the young Pierre Guariche, helping to steer him towards demanding, intelligent yet accessible designs. In 1953, he founded the revolutionary ARP -Atelier de Recherche Plastique- with Michel Mortier and Joseph-André Motte. In 1957, he became head of the furniture department at Meurop, a sort of Belgian Prisunic. His furniture and lighting designs are published by Galerie MAI, Airborne, Disderot, Meubles TV, Huchers-Minvielle, Luminalite and Steiner. In 1965, he was awarded the Prix René Gabriel.
Used scratches on the trays, patina of age on the metal. The lower tray is missing a screw, but this does not affect its stability and solidity.
