Clemens Briels, (Son, 1946) is a Dutch visual artist. In 1965 he started training at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven with the aim of becoming an artist. Due to various circumstances he ends up in the advertising world. He became a successful art director, but at the age of 46 he decided to become an artist.
His works of art have since been included in various renowned art collections. Clemens Briels was the first Dutch artist to be elected “Official Olympic Artist” for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
His work consists mainly of paintings and sculptures. His paintings are characterized by the use of bright colors and the depth effect by applying relief to the canvas.
