The pressed glass salt cellar was a staple at every meal. Functional, sturdy, often more imaginative than one might think. This one features two scalloped bowls in clear pressed-molded glass, connected by a central bridge. The finial is sculpted in the shape of a small sitting bear, with its paws resting on the rim, and a round, well-detailed head. A rare figural design on this type of object, which truly stands out compared to the usual geometric finials. Each bowl features an eight-pointed starburst pattern at the base, radiating ribs on the body, and a scalloped petal-shaped rim. The glass catches the light and redistributes it in all directions.
