This chrome-plated metal table lamp was designed by Josef Hurka for the Czechoslovakian manufacturer Napako during the 1950s. The piece exemplifies the functionalist approach to mid-century Eastern European lighting design, featuring a distinctive adjustable shade that allows for precise directional illumination. Constructed entirely from metal with a polished chrome finish, the lamp features a circular base with an integrated push-button switch. A curved tubular arm supports the domed shade, which is mounted on an adjustable joint. The underside of the base retains the original manufacturer's stamping, confirming its production by Napako. The lamp measures 18 centimetres in height, 14 centimetres in width, and 18 centimetres in depth. The lamp remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original finish and structural integrity. The chrome plating exhibits a natural patina consistent with its age and historical context, adding character to the piece without compromising its functionality.
