A Chinese Shiwan column, openwork ceramic.
Hexagonal in shape with openwork panels decorated with vases, flowers and foliage in vibrant turquoise, yellow, green and eggplant glazes on a deep cobalt blue ground.
Embossed ruyi and cloud motifs.
The vase symbolizes peace and harmony, while the floral elements, possibly lotus, chrysanthemum or peony, represent purity, long life and prosperity.
Probably used as a stand for an incense vessel or statue, this piece combines decorative elegance with prosperous symbolism.
Height: 78 cm.
Diameter: 35 cm.
Excellent condition: only slight signs of age. Craquelé (original to the glaze) and some minor firing flaws, such as small cracks.
