Two decorative Chinese porcelain plates from the Republican period, 1912 to 1949.
Plate A is hand-painted in Famille rose with a gilded rim, depicting two women from upper class in a garden. Calligraphy in Chinese characters renders a poetic text.
The plate is in good condition, with no chips or hairline cracks; the image has faded slightly after 100 years. On the back is a red Jiangxi stamp.
Plate B features a hand-painted decoration of chrysanthemums and butterflies on an orange/red background.
It is marked with a red stamp. The handcrafted nature is also evident because the plate is not entirely flat. In good condition, with no chips or hairline cracks.
Plate A has a diameter of 18 cm.
Plate B has a diameter of 19 cm.
The plates are sold as a set.
