Chinese ceramic Gu vase, Ming Dynasty, dating from the 17th century. Beautiful square stoneware vase with relief decoration around the base depicting four scholarly objects, while the upper section shows four different flowers consisting of the plum tree, chrysanthemum, lotus, and peony. Glazed in a turquoise color with craquelé, showing some loss of glaze here and there and chipping at the edges. The Chinese character for Yuan is on the bottom.
