Beautiful large charcoal drawing of a counselor or lawyer, original artwork by the hand of Herwig Driesschaert (1938-2010), signed and dated lower right 1974, Belgium. The very nice work with very many details is framed in a light colored wooden frame with glass.
Herwig Driesschaert was a Belgian artist best known for his works in which mainly two elements were central, man and nature. According to Driesschaert, man is trapped in an unnatural life from which he wants to escape.
Driesschaert was a particularly well-trained artist. He took courses at the Kortrijk Atheneum, at the Kortrijk Academy and at the famous Ghent Saint-Lucas Institute, where he was able to refine his innate talent. Throughout his career as an active artist of the province of West Flanders, he was also awarded several honorable distinctions, including the Provincial Prize for Graphics in 1966.
