Unique, handmade ceramic wall object, signed "Eduardo" and dated "5-4-79."
The work depicts a stylized human face in relief, with expressive lines and a striking use of color in blue, green, orange and, of course, terracotta. The incised contours, strong simplification of facial features and monumental appearance are reminiscent of both Picasso's modernist aesthetic and pre-Columbian art, particularly mask forms and facial fragments from Mayan culture.
Although not an authentic archaeological object, the work bears traces of that visual language, as a tribute or reinterpretation within a contemporary ceramic practice. Its warm, earthy colors and subdued relief make it a powerful decorative piece with character.
Presumably an autonomous art object, intended as a wall decoration. Mounted on wood for preservation. Suitable for indoor use or as a special accent in an interior with an interest in world cultures, modernism or expressive ceramics.
