The cobalt blue of this pitcher is truly eye-catching. Deep, almost nocturnal, it absorbs light and returns it in shifting reflections depending on the angle. It is on this dark, lustrous surface that the ceramist has incised its decoration: delicate stems, leaves, and branches, drawn into the unfired enamel. The ancient and demanding sgraffito technique reveals the light clay beneath, creating a white-on-dark design of remarkable delicacy. Its silhouette is generous, with a rounded belly resting on a scalloped base adorned with olive green enameled relief medallions, each applied individually. The handle, sculpted and twisted from unglazed ivory clay, offers a firm grip and a striking contrast with the cobalt body. The interior, cream-enameled, still bears the spiral marks from its creation on the potter's wheel. Beneath the base, a signature incised into the unfired clay: Terre à Terre. A French art pottery studio where each piece is crafted individually, from shaping to decoration. The slight variations in shaping and glazing are not imperfections; they are proof that no other piece is exactly like this one. Height: 12 cm. Opening: approximately 10 cm.
