Venice in Oirschot
Some time ago, Kees bought oak mooring posts (Briccole di Venezia) in Venice. These are used in the lagoons to moor the gondolas. After about 20 years, they need to be replaced. The posts that emerge from the water then have a natural beauty due to the effects of salt and mollusks. Beautiful wood, therefore, deserves a new life. We did just that with the Bricolle di Venezia TV cabinet. This cabinet is now available in our outlet.
Bricolle di Venezia
Our intern from Lucas College, Elaine van Gestel, was commissioned by Kees to design a piece of furniture using this Briccole di Venezia. The mind map was: old meets new, material with a story, clear and not too abstract, eco-friendly, and recycling/upcycling. The origin of the material had to remain visible. Last but not least, it also had to be technically feasible and offer a good price-quality ratio. A challenging task!
After much deliberation, consultation, and the creation of mood boards and drawings, Elaine designed a stunning cabinet program, which we then put into production. The teachers at Lucas College were thrilled with this masterclass, and Elaine passed! All the design principles were realized, and our new Briccole di Venezia series has given the Venetian mooring posts a new lease on life!
