Carlos Cartagena was born on April 29, 1960 in Guatemala, a Central American country. He emigrated to the United States in 1981. He held a variety of jobs during his first nine years, until the age of 30 in 1990, when he first landed a job as an illustrator for a neon sign company. A year later, he began painting leather jackets and custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles. His work began to reflect "his" sexy, sexy style, sometimes erotic but always tasteful. In '95 and '96, he won 1st place in Sturgis and Laughlin for his mural on a custom Harley-Davidson, and consequently for the covers of Easyriders and Hot Bike Magazines. Carlos' illustrations have also appeared in publications such as: Hooters, Playboy, Penthouse, Mystique Magazine, etc.
