From the 'Nian Qian Zhilong' production of the 1950s, this superb baluster vase with palace scene decoration features a rich multicolored floral design, inspired by the so-called "famille rose" style.
It's a skilful blend of several artisanal enameling techniques, enamel painting and cloisonné enamel, making it a charming and distinctive example of Chinese craftsmanship and Canton porcelain.
This vase is the fruit of centuries of mastery of Chinese porcelain craftsmanship: fine hand-crafted decoration, its light weight proving its finesse and sophistication of the material combining robustness of form and weight. It bears witness to an art that has influenced the world, and whose world has influenced it.
This vase is decorated in the 'famille rose' style. This style was born as a response to European demand for Chinese porcelain, with design codes corresponding to the standards and commissions of European customers: fauna and flora with scenes inspired by nature in a rococo form, preserving a Chinese aesthetic, with here a palace scene with a courtesan from the Chinese Imperial Court showing courtesy to a nobleman, surrounded by orange, pink and green floral decoration.
