Beautiful iridescent Art Deco vase - Attributed to WMF Myra / Bohemian (1920s/1930s)
This stunning, compact vase is a beautiful example of iridescent glass art from the Art Deco and late Art Nouveau periods.
The object is constructed from a warm, amber-colored base glass and is enriched on the outside with a spectacular metallic lustre finish. In the light, the glass displays a beautiful 'oil slick' effect with deep violet, blue, and gold tones.
In terms of design, color scheme, and finish, this piece shows striking similarities to the highly coveted 'Myra' line by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), designed by Karl Widmann in the 1930s. While WMF Myra is often blown wafer-thin, this particular example, however, has a substantial and solid weight of 220 grams. This possibly indicates a heavier version by WMF, or an extremely high-quality Bohemian production (such as Kralik or Rindskopf) from the same period, designed to compete with the top brands of that time. A very decorative and intriguing object for the glass collector.
Height: 10 cm
Diameter (widest point): 8 cm
Diameter (base): 4 cm
Weight: 220 grams (solid glass)
The small vase is in good, authentic condition without chips, cracks, or restorations. As is common with antique iridescent glass, the delicate metallic top layer shows a few light, superficial scratches and slight marks of friction consistent with age and use.
