Two impressive sculptural wall lights produced by the Raak lighting company in the 1960s. The model, called ‘Balans’ (C1550), was designed by Bertrand Balas, an architect from Toulouse. This design is well documented in several Raak catalogues from the 1960s and 1970s and is clearly influenced by the Brutalist art movement of that era.
A great opportunity to purchase as a set in a similar color scheme and size. Despite their age, these Bertrand Balas wall lamps remain in excellent vintage condition with a small opening on the side. Both fixtures are suitable for either built-in wall installation or external wiring. Both lamps are in good condition, fully rewired with matching color schemes, and retain their original suspension parts.
The lamps are made of gold-colored brass casting with a fine-grained texture. They can be installed with the opening facing upward or downward, allowing for flexible arrangements either individually or in a composition. When placed together, their orientation can be interpreted freely, creating a dynamic lighting display.
