The first truly ergonomically designed kitchen, with the user as the primary starting point.
In the 1930s, Piet Zwart designed a modular kitchen concept for Bruynzeel: the ‘standard kitchen’, which came onto the market in 1937.
To this day, this kitchen is still produced by Bruynzeel, but enthusiasts scour the entire country to gather the desired old/original elements here and there.
This double upper cabinet, including hanging glass pantry bins underneath, is a rare combination.
The photos clearly show that this cabinet requires some attention. The original blue-green paint shows through the later applied cream-white paint in some places.
The cabinet comes with 6 large glass pantry bins and 4 small ones.
These are original pantry bins from the era, in very good condition. No cracks or large chips.
Perhaps a few very tiny flakes on an edge if felt very closely. The bins are all the same model, with the well-known thick curved handles. There appears to be some color difference between the bins, but this is partly due to the variation in the glass used.
