Beautiful hand-cast bronze jingle bell from West Africa, made using the traditional lost-wax casting method.
The bell features a rhinoceros figure on top and is hollow inside, with loose balls that create a soft jingle sound when moved.
The open triangular recesses around the bell and the delicate decoration on the rhinoceros are typical of the Akan or Benin style from Ghana/Nigeria.
Such bronze bells were used as ceremonial objects or status symbols and are known for their symbolism of strength and protection.
