Product description
Bronze and brass, vintage coat rack with a top shelf, three large knobs, and four hooks from France, circa 1960's. The structure and side brackets, are made of bronze also referred as "bronze rocaille", with its reddish color while the bars of the shelf, have a brass-colored finish, with a twisted, "rope"-like effect. This unique piece, is both practical for hanging coats, hats or umbrellas, while presenting a very beautiful, rococo design, in the style of Louis XV/Napoleon III, that also serves as cool wall décor. The top, brass shelf, is an added bonus, whether one wishes to use it for shoes, scarves, folded towels, or even as a shelf for plants. The 3 large hooks, are round-shaped with a floral pattern, make it easy to hang jackets or other items. The four, additional hooks, are sturdy enough to hang hats, scarfs, etc. A maker's mark, "C G R", is present at the back, as well as the mention of "ART20/25 Brevett" and "Serie Extra Lusso." Piece is in overall, very good, original and vintage condition, with light signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, the overall structure, body, hooks (see photos) and shelf. It has only been gently cleaned with respect to its original patina of time. A truly lovely, functional, conversation and accent piece, that will compliment any given environment, be it traditional, French, contemporary, or MCM, and be placed in an foyer, entryway, hallway, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc. All photos taken in natural, indoor light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
