Sculpture by the renowned sculptor Dick van Wijk,
born in Leiden in 1943.
He graduated in 1970 from the art academy and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
His work demonstrates a quest to combine geometric and organic shapes.
In the artist's oeuvre, the human body forms
the basis of his concept. The circular shape symbolizes
continuity and development. These attributes, along with various animal forms, provide Van Wijk with a broad medium to work with. The materialization of the quest can be expressed in bronze, steel, marble, bluestone, and glass. The combination of these different materials represents a kind of irony and dynamism.
