Brockwitz “Koh-i-Noor” Cake Stand – 35 cm
Germany, documented in the 1915 Brockwitz catalogue
An exceptional and unusually large antique cake stand from the renowned German glassworks Brockwitz, produced in the celebrated Koh-i-Noor pattern and illustrated in the manufacturer’s 1915 catalogue. With its impressive 35 cm diameter, this is the largest cake stand in the series, offering both striking presence and outstanding practicality.
Made from finely moulded pressed glass, it features a richly textured geometric pattern that brilliantly reflects light, demonstrating the remarkable quality achieved by early 20th-century German glassmakers. The elegant pedestal and beautifully scalloped rim give it a refined appearance that rivals cut crystal.
Preserved in excellent, virtually unused condition, the stand shows no visible signs of use, suggesting it was carefully stored for most of its life.
Originally designed for serving cakes, it is equally perfect today for a large tart, pizza, pastries, fruit, cheeses, or an impressive dessert display. Its timeless design blends effortlessly with both antique and contemporary interiors.
A documented and authentic example of Brockwitz craftsmanship, this 35 cm Koh-i-Noor cake stand is a beautiful combination of history, functionality, and enduring design.
Some bubbles and small imperfections are normal in items made of pressed glass.
Brockwitz was a renowned German glass manufacturer established in 1903 in the town of Brockwitz, near Dresden. The company gained prominence for its exquisite pressed glassware, particularly during the early to mid-20th century. Starting around 1915, Brockwitz produced a diverse range of Carnival Glass, celebrated for its vibrant iridescent finishes and intricate patterns. In the 1930s and 1940s, the company expanded its repertoire to include remarkable Art Deco pieces, many of which were featured in their extensive 1941 catalog. These designs often showcased geometric motifs, stylized flora and fauna, and innovative forms that captured the essence of the Art Deco movement. Notable examples include the “Parakeet” bird vase and the “Serpent” handled centerpiece bowl. Today, Brockwitz glassware remains highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, admired for its artistic craftsmanship and historical significance.
