Designer Christien Meindertsma shows in this beautifully designed book what remains when 100 kg of household and industrial waste is burned in a modern incinerator.
She analyzed the bucket with 25 kg of leftover ash by very carefully sifting and separating this residue; this process yielded valuable materials, each of which is named and shown.
Photographer Mathijs Labadie captured the process in an almost microscopic way, giving the book a historical scientific character.
