A massive Bohemian art glass ashtray from the mid-20th century, crafted in intensely vibrant shades of red, orange, and amber. The heavy glass body is freely and organically sculpted, with deeply recessed rests and a boldly formed rim. The interplay of the different color layers is particularly striking: vibrant red transitions into warm orange and is framed by clear glass. The thick walls create intense reflections in the light, resulting in an almost glowing effect. The substantial, sculptural form is characteristic of experimental Bohemian art glass from the 1960s. A striking mid-century object that, in addition to its original use as an ashtray, also functions beautifully as a vide poche, small bowl, or standalone glass object.
