An elegant and richly decorated Art Deco ceramic lidded jar by Boch Frères La Louvière, produced in Belgium as part of the celebrated Keralux line. The piece is decorated in the highly sought-after “Bouquet de Saxe” (Saxon Bouquet) pattern, one of the manufactory’s most beloved floral decors, inspired by the refined hand-painted porcelain traditions of Saxony.
The jar features a beautifully faceted baluster form adorned with an abundant arrangement of colourful flowers, including roses, irises, poppies, cornflowers, and wild blossoms, all delicately scattered across the ivory-white glazed surface. The vibrant floral decoration is enhanced by subtle gilded accents along the edges, base, and finial, giving the piece an elegant and luxurious presence while maintaining the lightness and charm characteristic of fine European decorative ceramics.
Its sculptural silhouette, softly faceted body, and ornamental lid reflect the transition between late decorative traditions and the refined elegance of the Art Deco period. The Keralux production by Boch Frères became especially appreciated for combining high-quality faience with exceptionally detailed printed and hand-finished decorative motifs.
The jar remains in very good vintage condition overall. There is some gentle wear to the gilding consistent with age and careful use, while the colours remain bright and beautifully preserved. Particularly charming is the survival of the original Boch Frères manufacturer’s sticker, a lovely detail that further enhances the authenticity and collectibility of the piece.
The underside bears the Boch Frères La Louvière Keralux mark, confirming its Belgian origin and period production.
A highly decorative and timeless object that works beautifully in both traditional and eclectic interiors, while also being an excellent addition to a collection of Belgian Art Deco ceramics.
