An elegant Art Deco faience pitcher from the renowned Boch Frères Keramis manufactory, produced in Belgium during the 1930s and designed by Raymond Chevalier. Created in the celebrated Keralux line, this piece perfectly captures the refined balance between decorative richness and sculptural form that defined Belgian Art Deco ceramics of the period.
The pitcher features a beautifully curved silhouette with a pronounced rounded body, elevated neck, and a graceful gilded handle that adds both contrast and sophistication. The surface is richly decorated with vibrant floral motifs in deep magenta, golden yellow, warm orange, and delicate pink tones, set against an ivory-white ground. Stylised starburst elements scattered throughout the composition reinforce the unmistakable Art Deco aesthetic, blending geometric elegance with floral exuberance.
The fine faience body is enhanced by hand-applied gilded accents along the rim, base, and handle, creating a luxurious visual effect. The piece remains in very good vintage condition. There is some gentle wear to the gilding, fully consistent with the age of the object, as the pitcher is now nearly 100 years old. A particularly charming detail is the survival of the original Boch Frères paper label, a rare feature that further enhances the authenticity and collectible appeal of the piece.
Stamped “Keramis Boch Frères Belgique” on the underside, the pitcher bears the mark of one of Belgium’s most important ceramic manufacturers. Raymond Chevalier, one of the leading artistic figures associated with Boch Frères during the Art Deco era, became known for his bold decorative language, combining modernist geometry with stylised natural forms and vivid colour palettes.
Founded in La Louvière in the 19th century, Boch Frères Keramis became one of the most influential ceramic manufactories in Belgium and an important name in European Art Deco design. The factory gained international recognition for its innovative artistic collaborations, high-quality faience production, and distinctive decorative styles ranging from elegant geometric modernism to expressive flowing glazes. During the 1920s and 1930s, Boch Frères played a major role in shaping Belgian decorative arts, and today their Art Deco creations remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
