A Scandinavian stoneware table lamp designed by Inger Persson for the Swedish manufacturer Rörstrand in the 1960s. The base features a construction particularly characteristic of the ceramist's work: a lower section in speckled natural stoneware, partially covered with an earth-brown glaze, surmounted by a wide cylindrical body coated in a deep turquoise blue glaze. Hand-incised vertical lines punctuate the glazed surface. The contrast between the matte, mineral texture of the exposed stoneware and the depth of the glossy blue glaze gives this small lamp a highly sculptural presence, representative of Scandinavian modernist ceramics of the 1960s. The base bears the Rörstrand Ateljé Sweden mark on the underside, as well as the artist's signature. Presented with a cylindrical lampshade in ecru woven fabric.
