It watches. Hung on the wall for decades, it has graced post-war Catholic interiors with the discretion of everyday objects of faith. This wall crucifix is molded from bisque, a matte ivory cream material with golden ocher highlights in the recesses of the striations. The cross, with its slightly flared arms, is entirely decorated with a design imitating wood grain, with finely modeled parallel veins across its entire surface. The Christ figure in relief is molded integrally, with outstretched arms, head slightly tilted to the right, long wavy hair, and a perizonium draped at the waist. The INRI cartouche appears at the top of the cross, in relief. A twisted metal hanging wire is attached at the top. Height 27 cm, width 16 cm. Good general condition. Mass-produced religious item, France or Italy, 1950s-1970s. Hung in a bedroom, a hallway, or a room with character, this crucifix brings the sober and familiar presence of bygone interiors. It will find its place in a country, rustic, or simply family home-inspired decor.
