Vintage ' Bijou ' tripod table lamp by Louis Kalff for Philips Holland ( UFO style). Around 1950 - 1960 ( Mid - Century). This modernist lamp was designed by Louis kalff (1897-1976) and produced by Philips with the official model name Bijou. Due to its shape, very popular at this periood of space conquest, these lamps were often also referred to as Ufo lamp, Space Age, mushroom, ... The shade is made of aluminum and has the original color: blue-green. The inside of the shade has a light color to increase the reflection of the light. In very good condition (some light cracks on deflector). In addition to being a designer, Louis Kalff was also successful as an architect. The design of this lamp seems to have been the inspiration for the shape of the Philips exhibition center 'Evoluon'. Louis Kalff's architectural masterpiece realized in Eindhoven in 1966. Louis Kalff designed many iconic lamps for Philips. He was also the designer of the world famous Philips logo. Height : 33 cm x Diameter : 28,5 cm.
