Elegant two-drawer Biedermeier commode, originating from Germany or Central Europe and dating to circa 1850.
The piece is distinguished by its exceptionally decorative walnut veneer, carefully selected and symmetrically arranged across the drawer fronts. The beautifully figured walnut continues across the top and sides of the commode. Its clean, harmonious form and slender tapered legs give the piece the lightness and refined elegance characteristic of the Biedermeier period.
Both drawers retain their original locks. The locks are accompanied by custom-made brass keys based on original period examples.
The commode has undergone a comprehensive professional restoration in our workshop. Particular attention was given to both the construction and the operation of the drawers. They have been carefully fitted and adjusted, allowing them to open and close exceptionally smoothly and effortlessly.
The surface has been traditionally finished using French polish, applied by hand in numerous thin layers. This time-honored technique gives the walnut remarkable depth and a refined sheen while beautifully enhancing the natural grain and warm tones of the wood.
The commode is in very good condition following professional restoration, carried out with respect for its original construction and historical character.
