This exceptional cabinet is a rare, possibly unique interpretation of the iconic U-453 model designed by Jiří Jiroutek and produced in the 1960s by Interiér Praha in former Czechoslovakia.
While the U-453 sideboard is widely recognised and highly collectible, this particular example stands apart. The original model, typically measuring 110 cm in width and featuring two horizontal rows of Formica drawers, has here been thoughtfully shortened to 58 cm and fitted with just a single row of drawers. We have never encountered another version configured in this way. Whether created as a special commission or a custom interior solution, it may well be a one-off piece - a rare deviation within a celebrated production line.This bespoke version amplifies those qualities through its unusual proportions. More compact, more concentrated, it carries the same architectural logic as the standard model - yet feels almost sculptural in its reduced form.
