An unusual and authentic piece of furniture from the 1960s/70s: a Bernina Favorit 622 sewing machine built into a stylish teak veneer sewing cabinet with a sleek metal base.
The cabinet is designed to be practical and elegant: the cabinet can be completely closed to serve as a compact sideboard or side table. When in use, simply unfold the top and the sewing machine rises, creating a spacious work surface.
Details & features:
Built-in Bernina Favorit 622 sewing machine (currently not working; power wire is loose and may be easy to repair).
Cabinet finished in teak veneer with warm grain markings.
Sleek metal base that provides stability and a modern contrast to the wood.
Original metal handle on the door.
Folding worktop and storage space inside.
Origin: most probably Swiss (Bernina is a Swiss brand) - furniture itself in line with typical Scandinavian design from the 60s/70s.
Condition:
The furniture is in vintage condition with light signs of use appropriate to its age:
Some scratches and stains on the wood, discoloration on the top (see photos).
Metal of the base shows signs of use. There is some rust on the metal and therefore there are bald spots on it.
The machine itself shows slight discoloration due to age.
