Product description
An exceptional and remarkably rare sideboard by the renowned Danish manufacturer Bernhard Pedersen & Søn (BPS-M), Brande Møbelfabrik, crafted in the 1960s. This impressive piece of furniture was recently confirmed directly by Thomas B. Pedersen, a representative of the original manufacturing family. After reviewing the photographs, he stated that this particular version was previously unknown to him. The sideboard closely resembles the documented model 1560, but was most likely produced as a custom order or a non-catalog variant outside of the regular product line. With an exceptional length of 250 cm, this sideboard is among the largest known models by Bernhard Pedersen & Søn. Its impressive proportions lend it a strong architectural presence without sacrificing the elegant lightness of classic Danish Modern design. Crafted from high-quality teak with a beautiful grain, this piece embodies the superior craftsmanship of the golden age of Scandinavian design. Two sliding doors flank a central drawer unit with four drawers, creating a harmonious and balanced front design. The finely crafted handles made of solid teak, the gently rounded edges, and the elegantly shaped tapered legs underscore the high quality of the workmanship. Behind the sliding doors are generous storage compartments with adjustable shelves, while the four central drawers are crafted using traditional dovetail joints—a typical hallmark of high-quality Danish furniture from this period. The expressive teak grain on the doors and side panels is particularly impressive. The warm honey tones and the natural patina that has developed over decades lend the piece exceptional depth and character. Another significant aspect is the documented provenance. Direct confirmation from Thomas B. Pedersen represents a rare connection to the manufacturer himself and underscores the special status of this exceptional sideboard within the Bernhard Pedersen collection.
