Title of the artwork: 'Drink of love so that you get drunk on life!' by Ans Bakker. This chandelier is handmade by glass artist Ans Bakker. She sandblasted beer mugs and reshaped them into breasts. Furthermore, she complemented the chandelier with a small heavenly vase, various clock chains, and loose glass crystals. The chandelier is an ode to female brewers and innkeepers. The lamp comes into its own beautifully in an atrium or in a business setting, for example, in a brewery. Amersfoort had a flourishing beer industry from the Middle Ages onwards. At its peak, there were around 350 breweries in the city. A remarkably large number of women were involved in the brewing process, not only as servants but also as brewery owners. Brewing was women's work. In ‘Drink of love so that you get drunk on life!’, the beer glasses and breasts represent fertility and pure love, one of the most important sacred tenets in our lives. A little house we'd better not tamper with too much.
