A unique opportunity for lovers of authentic Oriental art! Offered for sale: a truly magnificent, antique room screen consisting of no fewer than six panels. This is not a modern mass-produced item, but a heavy, weathered piece of furniture that instantly adds atmosphere and history to any room.
Description & Details:
Design: A beautifully detailed Oriental scene (Chinese/Japanese) on a deep black, lacquered background. The main motif consists of majestic cranes (a symbol of good fortune and long life) in a landscape with pine branches and peonies.
Details: The panels are enriched with refined, relief-like inlay details in light colors (possibly mother-of-pearl or similar material), giving the screen a beautiful depth. Also note the graceful, white scroll motifs at the bottom of each panel.
Size: This is a large screen. With six panels, it is ideal as an impressive room divider, a headboard behind a bed, or as 'wall art' (mounted on the wall). Quality: This screen is very heavy and robust. It bears witness to old-fashioned craftsmanship and is absolutely impossible to lift or move alone.
Condition (The Honest Story):
This is a vintage, antique item with a history. The screen is not in mint condition. It shows clear signs of wear and tear that have accumulated over the years, consistent with its age and bearing witness to its journey through time.
The base and the inlay are largely intact and beautiful.
However, there are several spots where the lacquer or wood is damaged, particularly along the edges and corners. The last photo shows a good example of this type of wear. Please note that such spots occur on multiple panels.
We believe that it is precisely these imperfections that give the screen its unique, weathered character (think of the 'wabi-sabi' aesthetic). The screen deserves a beautiful new home with someone who can appreciate this 'soul'.

Dimensions: 180 cm high and 40 cm wide per panel. So a total width of 240cm
Transport: Due to the weight and size, only pick-up is possible. You must arrange for at least two strong people and suitable transport (a van or large trailer) yourself.
