Original MART swivel armchair from B&B Italia, designed by Antonio Citterio in 2003, crafted from thick, vegetable-tanned cognac saddle leather on a nude-coated heavy steel cross base.
The chair rotates smoothly 360 degrees. The generous dimensions (approx. 72 cm high × 74 cm wide × 68 cm deep) and the hard, contoured shell give this model a distinctive sculptural appearance.
Modern and honest in its materiality, the cross base keeps the silhouette airy, allowing the shell to float as an independent volume in the space.
The leather displays a distinct patina: discolorations, pigment clouds, dark areas, water marks, and age spots that together resemble a landscape of time. These are not flaws, but the natural evolution of saddle leather—a hide that lives, dries out, warms, and stores every moment of use as a subtle trace.
