Product description
This table lamp base is carved from solid white Carrara marble and built as a series of slender rectangular columns of varying widths, stepped forward and back to create a fluted, skyscraper-like profile. The stone shows the soft grey veining typical of Carrara marble against a bright white ground. A chrome-plated rod and socket fitting rise from the top of the marble block, continuing the vertical lines of the base up to the bulb. The stepped, faceted silhouette recalls the massing of Art Deco skyscraper design, scaled down here into a compact tabletop object rather than an architectural one. Its solid stone construction gives it real weight and presence, and the narrow footprint suits a console table, a desk, or a nightstand where a sculptural base can stand on its own. The geometry is graphic rather than ornamental, so the lamp works equally well in a pared-back contemporary room or alongside more traditional furniture, where the marble softens the sharpness of the stepped columns. The lampshade is not included.
