Carved antelope tray, wood, Art Deco, 20th century - France Typology: Tray Style: Art Deco Materials: Wood Period: Early 20th century Country of origin: France Provenance: Private collection Good condition according to its age and use Dimensions: 33 x 52 x 11 cm Decorative glazed tray with an antelope design and animal print, with side handles, made of light and stained wood. The tray displays a central circular design of two antelopes in a natural setting, with trees and bushes. On the sides of the circle there are stripes carved into the wood with a mottled animal print. It is made of dark stained wood, while the circle of the carved design is made of light and shaded wood, except for one of the antelopes. In addition to having a practical function for serving or carrying objects, it is a decorative piece in itself, and can be displayed on a table or piece of furniture. We can fit it into the Art Deco style thanks to the stylization of animal forms, in addition to the tendency toward geometrization of the backgrounds.
