BA3 chair by Ernest Race for Race Furniture - England, 1945. A British design classic - exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York. The BA3 chair was designed by Ernest Race in 1945 and is considered one of the most important chairs of British post-war design. Produced by Race Furniture in England, it was one of the first pieces of furniture to be industrially manufactured with a cast aluminum frame - light, strong and innovative. Thanks to its functional, modern design, the BA3 was included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York - a sign of its international design relevance. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a black fabric that was professionally renewed in the 1990s.
