This is a set of three authentic ship lanterns, manufactured by the Belgian producer Tavernier Oostende. The lot is special due to the almost consecutive serial numbers (327, 329 and 330), a rarity for maritime objects that have been in active service for decades.
Produced around 1940-1950, these lanterns have a robust metal casing and feature the original 'Tavernier Oostende' cast marking. The glass Fresnel lenses were professionally renewed in 1976 and bear the official approval 'DHI 09/03/76' from the Deutsches Hydrographisches Institut, confirming their authentic maritime history.
The lanterns show a characteristic patina that testifies to their past at sea, contributing to their unique appearance. They have been expertly converted to 230V and fitted with a plug, making them immediately functional as atmospheric lighting.
With their industrial and nautical character, these lamps make a powerful statement in various interior styles. They are ideal as ambient lighting in a living room, study, or a commercial space with a maritime or industrial theme.
