"Austen Glass Art" refers to the historic glassworks of Franz Austen in Bodenmais, a Sudeten German who founded the company after World War II.
The glassworks produced handcrafted, unique glass pieces.
Production ceased in 1998 when Richard Weinfurtner took over the glassworks.
Renovation: In 2019, the building underwent a complete renovation, glass production was discontinued, and the company name was changed to "Das Schmuckstück" (The Jewel).
