Beautiful, high-quality, and characteristic plaster torso of a Discophore (the classical Greek discus thrower). This unique sculpture was crafted in the mid-20th century by the renowned and respected Amsterdam Atelier Gebroeders van Paridon (active ca. 1905–1980).
Unlike the more common versions mounted on a wooden base, this rarer model is mounted on an original, solid black marble/natural stone block foot.
The sculpture was photographed in bright, natural daylight. In reality, the plaster has a weathered, robust, and authentic appearance with the necessary signs of age (such as scratches, light chips/bare plaster, and patina). This is inherent to the object's age and gives it its unique biography and character. It has deliberately never been restored or repainted in order to preserve the original, fragile patina layer.

Original, solid black marble block base. The torso is robustly anchored in this with an authentic metal pin.
