On the light, finely speckled stoneware of this pot, a traditional Corsican straw hut is hand-painted with a precision and freshness that testify to the care taken with each piece. The thatched roof with striped tiles, the honeycomb-patterned door, the branches with small blue flowers surrounding it – all are drawn with a confident brushstroke, in the brown, olive green, and cobalt blue tones that characterize the works of Poterie Corse d'Oletta. The rim is highlighted with a green border, and the original cork stopper closes the piece with functional simplicity. The base bears the workshop's stamp, complemented by a handwritten inscription "Peint à la main, Corse" (Hand-painted, Corsica), attesting to its artisanal origin. Poterie d'Oletta, located in Haute-Corse, is one of the island workshops that have perpetuated the traditions of French regional ceramics since the 1970s-1980s. In a kitchen, on a shelf, or as part of a collection of regional ceramics, this pot brings a touch of authentic island craftsmanship. Good condition, original cork stopper with a patina from use.
