Artimeta is a historic Dutch company known for its high-quality lighting and metalwork designs. The company was founded in 1928 by Frits Spanjaard in Soest, Netherlands, and initially started as a metalware factory producing a variety of household products. However, Artimeta gained significant recognition in the mid-20th century for its innovative and modern lighting designs, which became highly sought after both in the Netherlands and internationally. Artimeta 's lighting fixtures were known for their sleek, minimalist designs and the use of high-quality materials such as brass, copper and other metals. The company's designs were influenced by the Mid-Century Modern and Scandinavian design movements, characterized by clean lines, simple shapes and functional aesthetics. Artimeta lamps and fixtures were often used in contemporary interior design and were considered iconic pieces of the time. One of Artimeta 's notable designers was Willem Hagoort, who joined the company in 1936 and was instrumental in shaping its design direction. Hagoort's designs for Artimeta were known for their elegant simplicity, often with geometric shapes and bold use of materials. Artimeta 's products were sold through their own showrooms and retailers in the Netherlands, but also exported to other countries. The company gained a reputation for its quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and innovative designs, earning them numerous awards and accolades in the field of industrial design. Although Artimeta 's production declined in the late 20th century, their mid-century modern lighting fixtures remain highly collectible and sought after by vintage design enthusiasts and collectors. The company's legacy as a pioneer of modern Dutch design and innovative lighting continues to be recognized and appreciated in the world of interior design and industrial design. Some well-known designers for Artimeta were H. Floris Fiedeldij, Aldo van den Nieuwnlaar and Mathieu Matégot. height approx. 40 cm width approx. 50 cmThe screw that fastens the basket is somewhat rusty.
