A design by Theo Ruth for Artifort, type 'Congo'
This is a so-called easychair / lounge chair in varnished wood and light-colored fabric, the design is Dutch, and from 1952.
These chairs have a unique construction, forced by tension and gravity. The back and seat are two separate elements that fit together to form the chair.
This design was inspired by African chairs, hence the name "Congo".
This copy comes from the original owners who bought the piece in the mid-1950s. The armchair is in original very clean and beautiful used vintage condition and ready for immediate use.
The beautiful light colored fabric is a heavy quality upholstery fabric that has been professionally applied over the past decades.
