This Artifort armchair from the 1970s is a representative example of Dutch design from the mid-twentieth century. The design is characterized by a flowing, organic shell shape resting on a sleek metal cross base, creating a strong visual contrast and a timeless appearance.
The chair has recently been reupholstered with high-quality furniture fabric from the Italian brand Minotti, specifically the Ginza model in a natural beige shade. This fabric consists of a rich blend of materials, including viscose, cotton, linen, and wool, resulting in a refined texture and a durable surface. The seat and backrest feature tufted cushions that enhance seating comfort. The swivel cross base is made of metal and provides a stable foundation.
The armchair is in excellent condition, partly thanks to the recent reupholstering with unused Minotti fabric. The original Artifort brand plate has been preserved and attached to the underside, underscoring the authenticity of the piece of furniture. The construction is solid and the swivel function works properly. The lining and screws are also new.
There is potentially enough fabric available to upholster a second chair (not free).
This piece of furniture comes into its own particularly well in a modern or Mid-Century Modern interior. The neutral beige color and elegant design make it a versatile addition to a living room, reading nook, or home office, where it serves as both a functional seating piece and an aesthetic centerpiece.
