The Artifort Alky armchair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti in 1969, is an iconic example of progressive European furniture design. This specific model combines a fluid, organic shape with striking two-tone woven upholstery, making it a timeless addition to any collection of modern design.
The chair is built around a sturdy metal frame that is completely enclosed by foam, creating the characteristic seamless silhouette. The upholstery consists of a robust textile blend in which brown and black threads are interwoven into a fine, graphic pattern. The whole rests on minimalist metal sled legs that give the chair a floating character. The Alky was one of the first chairs where the upholstery was attached directly to the foam, an innovation that perfectly reflects the clean lines of the Space Age era.
Thanks to its compact and sculptural design, this armchair comes into its own perfectly in a modern or eclectic interior. The piece functions beautifully in a seating area or as an individual accent chair in a minimalist reading room.
The chairs are in good condition. Discoloration appears visible in the photos, but this is not the case; the type of fabric is difficult to photograph. Furthermore, one of the chairs has a small hole on the back.
The chairs are sold individually, 2 pieces available (the one with the hole can be slightly cheaper).
