A fantastic, handcrafted large (fruit) bowl from the 1960s. Designed by French artist Pierre d'Avesn and made by Art Vannes France crystal, the bowl reflects its surroundings and, as you can see, is at its best when surrounded by space.
Despite its age, it is still intact. A few spots are dulled by small chips, and there are a few scratches from use in the glass.
The bowl is signed on the bottom and measures 63 x 24 x 12 centimeters.
Vannes Le Châtel was founded in 1765 and was one of the most important glass manufacturers in France from 1900 to 1950. In 1963, they began producing decorative lead crystal glass, peaking in the 1960s and 1970s, the period during which most of our pieces were created. Around 1970, ART Vannes ceased production and Cristal de Sèvres was founded. Later, they produced under the Daum brand.
Because the ART Vannes FRANCE kilns were only in use from 1950 to 1970, these beautiful pieces are considered a rare find.
