Art Deco French Faience Vase – Manufacture De Bruyn, c. 1930
Height: 35 cm
A striking two-handled ceramic vase from the renowned Manufacture De Bruyn (Faïencerie de Fives-Lille), active in Lille, France during the early 20th century. This piece exemplifies the Art Deco aesthetic with its elegant, elongated form and symmetrical, stylized relief decoration around the neck.
The rich cobalt blue glaze features a vibrant yellow dripping glaze effect, a signature technique of the period, adding depth and movement to the surface. The underside bears the factory mark: an anchor entwined with the initials DB, along with “FRANCE” and “DÉPOSÉ,” confirming its origin.
Founded by Désiré De Bruyn, the Fives-Lille faience factory became known in the 1920s–30s for high-quality decorative ceramics characterized by bold forms and innovative glazes. Today, De Bruyn’s work is prized by collectors of French Art Deco design for its craftsmanship and timeless modernity.
